Whereas
Dr. Hampton T. Davey, known to the world as "Red," has been a member of the Faculty Advisory Council of the Maryland Higher Education Commission, and its predecessor the Faculty Advisory Committee to the State Board for the Higher Education, since its creation in 1978; and was a founding member of this advisory body, now having served for the 22 years as the only representative from the St. Mary's College of Maryland to the FAC; and
Whereas Dr. Davey has served as Chair of the Faculty Advisory Committee and the Faculty Advisory Council on several occasions for the accumulated reign of ten years; and
Whereas Dr. Davey has represented the interests of  not only the faculty of St. Mary's College of Maryland but of all of higher education on issues of educational quality, through major studies of higher education of 1988, and the Larson Task Force; and
Whereas Dr. Davey has used his acerbic wit to deflate many pompous State bureaucrats and to bring FAC discussions back to solid ground when they had strayed afield; and never lost either his good humor or his political acumen in all the hours of discussion and debate at FAC meetings over 22 years;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED
...that the Faculty Advisory Council of the Maryland Higher Education Commission hereby adopts this Resolution of Appreciation for Dr. Hampton T. Davey, a true educator and a beloved gentleman.
